Patrolling is a "Mitzvah" During the High Holidays

During the high holidays, we need patrollers to maintain a close watch on the city in general, and of our religious institutions in particular. When patrolling near synagogues, remember to stop and park your vehicle for a few minutes in front of the entrance or walkways. Be seen and be friendly! Although no specific threats were made, it always pays to be especially vigilant during this time of the year. If you see behaviours or individuals that appear to be suspicious, don't hesitate to "call it in" to dispatch.

Unfortunately, many of our most active patrollers are not able to patrol on those days, leaving our 4 vehicles, 4 scooters and e-bikes sitting idle and under-utilized. Please make an effort to patrol on these specific dates. While we need as many 3-hour patrol shifts as possible, shorter patrol shifts of 2-hours are acceptable and appreciated.
  • Evening of Sept. 4th through the evening of Sept. 6th - Rosh Hashana
  • Evening of Sept. 13th through the evening of Sept. 14th - Yom Kippur
