What can be more relaxing than a day at our Municipal pool, lazing around and getting a little exercise. Well, for one thing, not having to fill out a police report and take a taxi home would be nice.Over the past few weeks, one or more individuals have been entering the locker rooms at the recreation center and either opening unlocked lockers, or breaking the locks off secure ones. Valuables have been taken, and two cars from the parking lot were stolen after the owner's keys were snatched.
ADVISORY: At the request of SPVM, please stop by the Recreation Center during opening hours of the pool and do a five minute walk through in both the locker rooms as well as around the actual pool area to make our presence known. As always, we are eyes and ears only. Should you see someone (or something) suspicious, call it in to Dispatch. Never question an individual. Err on the side of caution, and make one call to dispatch too many rather than one too few.
Just a reminder to always take your radio with you when leaving the vehicle so that you are able to contact Dispatch in seconds should the need occur. We have seen patrols all too often leaving the radios in our vehicles "because they were just exiting for a moment".
